Description

TecCera supplies custom ceramic-to-metal vacuum electrical feedthroughs for transmitting electrical power, signals or measurement connections through sealed vacuum chamber walls.

High-purity alumina ceramic provides electrical insulation between the conductor and metal housing. The metallized ceramic is joined to compatible metal components through controlled brazing to create an electrically insulating sealed assembly.

Voltage, current, temperature and leak-rate requirements are configuration-dependent. Each feedthrough should be specified according to its conductor size, pin configuration, ceramic geometry, flange type and operating environment.

Key Features

Ceramic-to-Metal Sealing

The alumina insulator is metallized and brazed to compatible metal conductors or housings, providing electrical isolation across the vacuum boundary.

Custom Electrical Ratings

Conductor diameter, ceramic creepage distance, insulation thickness and pin spacing can be configured according to the required voltage and current.

Single-Pin and Multi-Pin Designs

Feedthroughs can be evaluated with single or multiple conductors for power transmission, signals, instrumentation and measurement connections.

Configurable Mounting Interfaces

CF, KF, ISO and custom mounting interfaces can be evaluated according to the required vacuum level, chamber size and installation method.

Material Selection

Ceramic grade, conductor material, housing material and brazing alloy are selected according to electrical load, thermal cycle, vacuum requirement and material compatibility.

Available Configurations

  • High-voltage electrical feedthroughs
  • High-current power feedthroughs
  • Single-pin feedthroughs
  • Multi-pin feedthroughs
  • Signal and instrumentation feedthroughs
  • Grounded or electrically isolated housings
  • Single-ended or double-ended conductors
  • CF, KF and ISO flange-mounted designs
  • Custom threaded or welded mounting interfaces
  • Coaxial configurations subject to connector and impedance requirements

Power, signal, coaxial, thermocouple, fluid and rotary feedthroughs are different product categories. Their specifications should not be combined into one product model.

Detailed Product Information

A vacuum electrical feedthrough must provide both electrical insulation and a sealed mechanical interface. Its performance depends on the complete assembly, including the ceramic geometry, metallization, conductor material, housing material, brazing alloy and joint design.

High-voltage designs require adequate ceramic thickness, creepage distance and electric-field control. High-current designs require a suitable conductor cross-section and thermal management. These requirements must be evaluated independently because one design normally cannot provide the maximum voltage, current and temperature ratings at the same time.

Material compatibility must also be considered during brazing and operation. Differences in coefficients of thermal expansion between alumina, copper, Kovar, stainless steel and other alloys can generate residual stress. The final design should therefore be reviewed as a complete ceramic-to-metal assembly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum bakeout temperature?

The allowable bakeout temperature depends on the ceramic, conductor, housing, brazing alloy, connector and sealing construction. A maximum temperature should only be confirmed after the complete configuration has been reviewed.

How should I choose between CF, KF and ISO flanges?

CF flanges are commonly selected for high- and ultra-high-vacuum systems requiring metal gasket sealing. KF flanges are suitable for compact systems requiring convenient installation. ISO flanges are commonly used for larger vacuum connections. The final selection depends on chamber size, vacuum level, bakeout temperature and installation requirements.

Can the voltage and current be customized?

Yes. Voltage and current ratings can be evaluated by adjusting the ceramic geometry, creepage distance, conductor size, pin spacing and material system.

Can you manufacture multi-pin feedthroughs?

Yes. Please provide the number of conductors, pin arrangement, electrical ratings, isolation requirements and dimensional limitations for evaluation.

Does every model achieve the same helium leak rate?

No. Leak performance depends on the complete feedthrough design, assembly process and test conditions. The required helium leak rate and test method should be stated on the drawing or purchase specification.

Is this a rotary feedthrough?

No. This product transmits electrical power or signals through a vacuum boundary. A rotary feedthrough transmits mechanical rotation and requires specifications such as shaft diameter, rotational speed, torque, bearing arrangement and rotary seal type.
